Now here’s a great way to get outdoors and see some gorgeous fall color in our neck of the woods! Chimney Rock State Park, located 30 minutes south of the Inn on Mill Creek, is offering two “Off the Beaten Path” guided hikes in October:
October 6: Local nature photographer Steven Faucette will be leading this tour that will focus on fall wildflowers (and there are a lot at Chimney Rock Park!). Leaves on the trees will still be fairly green, but look no further than the wildflowers native to the North Carolina mountains to provide early fall’s color splashes, with Jewelweed, Goldenrod, Pink Turtlehead, Boneset, Joe-Pye Weed and more.
October 20: Ron Lance, an internationally renowned naturalist, will guide hikers along a moderate-to-strenuous two-hour excursion more than 1,000 feet above sea level on the ridges of Chimney Rock Mountain, where you’ll have spectacular views of Mother Nature’s fall color palette.
